\F1Dear Leon:

\JAs you can see, technology marches on. This letter was prepared on the
Stanford Artificial Intelligence Project document production system.
The output device is a modified Xerographic printer. Sigh, it is not
commerciallly available, but several laser-based versions of the idea
are available. Sigh number two: they're expensive; in the $145,000-300,000
range. However, within the year at least one company will introduce a
$30,000 version. That still ain't cheap, but I would expect that price
to fall to around $10K within another year.

\F1So trade in your X-Y plotter; these devices can beat it.\.
